Shuri Castle and Shikinaen Gardens
I went on tour yesterday to Shuri Castle and Shikinaen Royal Garden. It was really nice. Seeing the historical and scenic beauty of the island is a great experience! Shuri Castle is where the Ryukyu kings meet for congress and lived around 1429 while the Shikinaen Garens was the Ryukyu Royals second largest residence and was used to entertain royal family members and royal guests. It was constructed around the end of the 18th century. At Shuri Castle we were just in time to see the Ryukyu dancers preform. They were so graceful and beautiful! I plan to on a tour at least once a month, maybe more during the summer.

Here are some pictures from my trip :)

My review
I'm really humbled by this book. Her journey during the war is truly and inspiration to life. I now look around while I'm driving or walking on Okinawa and think to myself of the struggles that so many Okinawan refugees went through, including the author as a 7 year old child! Defiantly an inspirational read!
